Ruskin, Florida - The entire family can learn more about Ben Franklin at the SouthShore Regional Library on Friday, Feb. 3 at 4 p.m. at the SouthShore Regional Library at 15816 Beth Shields Way in Ruskin.

Portraying Ben Franklin, Dr. Rich Davis will entertain and enlighten the public with history and stories as he explains Franklin's life and achievements.

Cancer-stricken woman wins fight with condo over dog

Ruskin, Florida - Pat Picavet got some good news, and in a year that brought word of incurable cancer, a happy day is savored.

"There are a lot of days I wake up and I'm not happy, so to hear this made me happy-very happy," says Picavet.

On Tuesday 10 News told you about Picavet and how much she depends on her dog Marley. She says the chocolate lab helps her fight depression and letters from her doctors back that up.

Photographers can show off their work at Ruskin library

Ruskin, Florida -- The John Crawford Advisory Board is looking for adult photographers to display their works in the Crawford Gallery at the SouthShore Regional Library, at 15816 Beth Shields Way in Ruskin.

Applications are available starting Wednesday, Feb. 1 for a juried show to be held July - August.

Applications are available at the Information Desk at the library and are due March 30.

Craigslist 101 class being held at Ruskin library

Ruskin, Florida -- Adults can learn how to become a member, browse, search, and buy items on Craigslist at the Ruskin Branch library at 26 Dickman Drive Southeast in Ruskin on Thursday, Feb. 2.

Basic mouse and keyboarding skills are recommended.

The class is being held in the Pauline Dickman Lawler Community Room from 3 to 3:30 p.m. Then from 3:45 to 4:30 p.m. participants can take another class to learn how to create a listing, and sell items on Craigslist.

Woman with cancer can't keep dog at condo

RUSKIN, Fla. -- Like most dog owners, Pat Picavet thinks the world of her girl, Marley. "This is cliché, but she is like my best buddy," says Picavet during a game of fetch.

But to Picavet, the chocolate lab is much more than just a pet. The dog helps Picavet get through her toughest days. "She's very, very special to me," she says, then laughs when Marley burps in her face.

Riverview auto salvage operation receives special recognition

Riverview, Florida -- On Thursday, Jan. 26, the Environmental Protection Commission of Hillsborough County (EPC) recognized Florida Dial-A-Part for making environmental improvements in its Riverview auto salvage operation, designating it a Green Yard.

Green Yard is an industry-friendly program that encourages and helps auto salvage facilities go above and beyond basic compliance with environmental regulations. It allows them to voluntarily take greater steps to protect the environment.
