Business accountant charged with embezzling $300K

Riverview, Florida -- A business accountant for Power Electric Service, Inc. was arrested Tuesday for allegedly embezzling over $300,000 from the company.

Tampa Police say 40-year-old Anastasia Beck stole the money between 2007 and 2010 to pay for expenses at her husband's business, cars, trips and daycare for her children.

After a two-year investigation, detectives were able to establish probable cause for her arrest. She was arrested at her Riverview home early this morning without incident.

Man waves gun in front of local elementary school

Riverview, Florida -- A man is under arrest after waving a gun in front of a Bay area elementary school.

Fortunately, a Hillsborough County Sheriff's deputy was nearby and noticed children yelling about the armed man.

6 arrested on over 335 counts of child porn possession

Tampa, Florida -- After a two-and-a-half month investigation, six men were arrested on over 335 counts of child porn possession.

The Internet Predator Unit (IPU) of the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office conducted the initiative to arrest individuals who engaged in the illegal receipt, possession, production and distribution of child pornographic material.

As a result, the IPU successfully conducted 10 investigations involving individuals in Hillsborough County. A total of 67 computer items and 63 electronic items were seized.

Hillsborough County, Florida -- The Hillsborough County Sheriff's office has released that crime in Hillsborough County is down 53.2% since 2007. 

For the sixth straight year, deputies have reduced overall crime in Hillsborough County. With a population in unincorporated Hillsborough County of more than 800,000 residents, the number of victims of  crimes was also reduced from 21,617 in 2011 to 20,072 in 2012. This violent crime rate is the lowest since recording started in 1985.

Gas station robberies plague 2 counties

Pasco County, Florida -- Pasco County Sheriff's deputies are investigating two armed robberies Wednesday morning.

Authorities say the first robbery occurred at the 7-Eleven in the 23000 block of SR 54 in Land O' Lakes. Around 2 a.m., two black men with hoodies and masks reportedly threatened a clerk and left with an undisclosed amount of money.

State transportation workers catch hit-and-run suspect

Wimauma, Florida -- Hillsborough County deputies are giving credit to a pair of Florida Department of Transportation workers who helped catch and hold a man who tried to flee and hit-and-run incident with a motorcyclist Thursday morning.

Deputies say around 10 a.m., Obispo Valentin was heading west on CR 672 and, when he tried to turn left onto Balm Wimauma Road, he traveled into the path of Brandon Collett's motorcycle that was heading east on the road.
