Apollo Beach, Fla. -- Time is running out to sign up for the Girls Only Conference put on by the Hillsborough County Parks, Recreation and Conservation Department.

The event is designed to raise the level of awareness about positive life styles, and health and welfare of young Hillsborough County adults.

The registration deadline is Thursday, March 8 though and the event is only open to the first 100 participants.

Come out and play Mexican train dominoes in Ruskin

Ruskin, Fla. -- Organizers say Mexican Train Dominoes has become popular, spawning something of it's own sub-culture within the domino family.

You can join others to play the exciting party game in the Pauline Dickman Lawler Community Room at the Ruskin Branch Library at 26 Dickman Dr. S.E. in Ruskin.

The event is for adults and will take place on Tuesday, Feb. 21, from 10:15 a.m. - 12:15 a.m.

Free chair yoga offered at Riverview Library

Riverview, Fla. -- Organizers say it's never too late to try yoga.

A chair yoga class is being offered on Monday, Feb. 20 from 10:30 a.m. - 11 a.m. in the Community Room of the Riverview Branch Library at 10509 Riverview Drive.

You will learn how to use yogic breathing and slow movements in chairs in a relaxing introduction to yoga. It is specifically designed for seniors, but is open to all adults.

There is a limit of 20 people.

Riverview, Florida -- The public is invited to support the American Cancer Society's Relay For Life during a fundraiser in Riverview on Saturday, Feb. 18.

Organizers say Relay For Life is a life changing event that helps communities across the globe, celebrate the lives of people who have battled cancer, remember loved ones lost, and fight back against the disease.

Free hearing and vision screenings in Ruskin

Ruskin, Florida -- St. Joseph's Children's Advocacy Center and Prevent Blindness Florida is going to offer free hearing and vision screenings in Ruskin for children from ages 2 to 18.

These screenings would normally cost between $23 and $25.  No appointment is necessary. For those who qualify, assistance will be provided for glasses and exams.

The screenings are scheduled on Friday, Feb. 17 from 10 a.m. - 2 p.m. at 3030 E. College Avenue in Ruskin.

Boys and Girls Club celebrates ribbon cutting

Riverview, FL -- On Jan. 27, the new Riverview Boys and Girls Club hosted a Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting ceremony with an overwhelming appearance of community support.

According to the Riverview Chamber of Commerce, a brief program started with a warm welcome by Dr. Earl Lennard and a beautiful National Anthem by Riverview High Schools Choir. A few words about the importance of supporting, prviding encouragement and giving hope to our youth were given by Monsignor Diez, County Commissioner Al Higginbotham, Joe Garcia and Sheriff David Gee.
