Riverview students helping shelter pets

Riverview, Florida - Earlier this year, local educator Erin Anderson set out to provide a service project for the students at St. Stephen Catholic School at 10424 St. Stephen Circle in Riverview.

Needy shelter pets at the county animal shelter became the benefactors of the children's "Coin Crusade" and Anderson hoped the coin drive might exceed a hundred dollars.

Progressive Pet-A-Thon

Riverview, Florida --The Progressive Pet-A-Thon pet adoption event will take place March 23.

From 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Progressive Insurance will partner with local adoption agencies to find homes for needy dogs and cats.

It will take place at the Progressive Service Center, 4118 Foxworth Rd., Riverview, FL

Along with finding homes for needy animals, there will also be food, fun and prizes on site, as well as a canine pet resort and training facility for obedience demonstrations.

HIllsborough County, Florida-- Celebrate St. Patricks Day by adopting a cat!

All during March, felines one-year and older are offered for the wee cost of just $20 --including spay/neuter surgery, vaccination, micro-chip, and license tag.

Hillsborough County Animal Services on Falkenburg Road is open daily from 10 a.m. until 7 a.m. for adoptions and lost pet searches.

On Saturday, February 23 from 9 a.m. - 1 p.m., Hillsborough County Animal Services, along with Best Friends Animal Society and the Hillsborough Animal Health Foundation will present Neighborhood Pit Bull Day.

Humane Society to offer free shot clinic for pets Saturday

Hillsborough Co., FL-- The Humane Society of Tampa Bay will host a free vaccination clinic for dogs and cats for all Hillsborough County residents tomorrow.

They will have standard vaccinations, like rabies shots, at no charge for the first 1,000 pets. In addition, Hillsborough County Animal Services will be on hand offering free licenses for those with proof of residence in the following zip codes:

Hillsborough animal hospitals fostering shelter animals to up adoptions

Hillsborough Co., FL-- Increase animal adoptions and decrease the euthanasia rate. That's the goal of the Hillsborough Animal Health Foundation as it launches a new pilot program called "AWAKE".

As a part of the new program, local veterinary hospitals will foster pets from the Animal Shelter until a forever family can be found for them.

"These are pets that are beyond the normal wait time and would have to be euthanized, [without] this fostering program," explained a foundation representative.
