Tampa real estate booming; leads state

Tampa, Florida-- The numbers are in, and they are up! More homes were sold last month in the Tampa Bay area than in in the past seven years combined.

According to MLS figures, 3,100 homes were sold in Hillsborough, Pinellas, Pasco and Hernando counties last month, a 7 percent increase compared to the same month in 2012.

Home sales prices also increased, up 22 percent over the same time period. 

The average home in the Tampa Bay area sold for $150,000.

HIllsborough County, Florida-- The Hillsborough County Property Appraisers office wants to remind everyone that the deadline to apply for homestead exemption or agriculture classification is fast approaching. Residents have until March 1st to file the required forms.

Brandon, Florida—2012’s Parade of Homes, a two-week home parade that displays the newest home designs and housing trends, wraps up on Sunday, April 1.

The parade, with close to 90 model homes featured in 50 communities throughout Hillsborough, Pasco and Pinellas counties, had a 26 percent increase in entries, and a 40-45 percent increase in overall attendance from previous years’ stats.

Tampa, Florida -- Leaders from more than 1,000 neighborhood, civic, homeowners, condominium and crime watch associations throughout Hillsborough County, Plant City, Tampa and Temple Terrace are invited to register for the 2011 Hillsborough County Neighborhoods Conference.

This year’s event will be held on Saturday, April 2 at the Hillsborough Community College’s Dale Mabry Campus from 8:00 a.m. - 2:30 p.m.  The Neighborhoods Conference provides an opportunity to help citizens build a sense of community and make their neighborhoods safe, attractive and friendly.

The conference is also a great way for neighborhood leaders to network with each other and meet with local government officials and local businesses.
