Rocket launchers, flute gun given up in Bay area gun swap

TAMPA, Florida - Two rocket launchers and a flute fashioned into a gun were among the weapons turned into the Hillsborough County Sheriff's Office's Gun Swap program on Saturday.

"We knew in light of the recent tragedy in Newtown that it would be popular," said Captain Chad Chronister.

A total of 2,541 weapons were exchanged for $75 and tickets to a Tampa Bay Rays home game at five locations throughout the county.

Gun Swap was an amnesty program of sorts, aimed at getting unwanted weapons of the streets.

TALLAHASSEE, Florida -- In 2012, Florida was a state where a lifeguard got

man repeatedly used 911 as a phone sex service.

Think that's weird? It gets worse and more tragic.

Police: Riverview driver cited in GA circus trailer accident

SAVANNAH, Ga. (AP) - Authorities in Savannah say a truck driver has been cited after a trailer containing eight circus animals became unhitched on a highway.

Authorities said late Monday that Michael K. Ramos of Riverview, Florida, was charged with driving too fast for conditions, failing to maintain his lane and having an improper class license after the accident on Interstate 516.

Police say Ramos hit a sign, which dislodged the trailer containing animals performing in the UniverSoul Circus. Police said medics treated two llamas for minor nose and foot injuries.
